I teach at a university in an impoverished community that has been victimized by empty promises of development by large corporations. When I start talking to students in my class on community and economic development about cooperatives, especially worker cooperatives, their eyes light up. The idea that there could be a different way of doing things is a complete revelation to them. This film will be a really valuable tool to give students a sense of the possibilities–and a sense that there are other people out there who are facing the same kinds of issues they are looking at and who have found an approach that makes a really meaningful change in people’s lives.
